Course Description:
Bass Guitar is the foundation of rock bands worldwide. Many guitar players feel they can just pick up a bass and play but quickly see this instrument has techniques and tricks all its own. Al Baca is the sensational singing and songwriting bass player of Midnight to Twelve. They are truly one of the hottest young bands in America and Al may be their most visible member. Al takes you through the very earliest questions you might ask. How does a bass work? What does each knob do? How do I know a good bass from a bad bass. Al teaches the notes on the neck with an easy octave technique that makes learning quick and easy. He cites his own influences from Jocko Pastorius to Rage Against The Machine. He then proceeds into technique drills and answers more advanced questions. What does it mean to play in the pocket? Should I use my fingers or a pick? How can I use the bass for percussion as part of a rhythm section? Als love of his instrument and his enthusiasm for the bass drive this great course from start to finish.
