Scotland’s new offering on the progressive music scene: Abandoned Stars.
We have sheep, haggis, hills and water of life and a brand new exciting blend in the name of Abandoned Stars.
With hints of metal and a robust aroma of progressive rock, Abandoned Stars first saw the light of day in July 2010 when two Scottish brothers; Tony Hodge (drums) and Leen (bass) decided to form a band in Edinburgh. They soon recruited French singer Olivier Hadder and Italian guitar player Giuseppe Schiavone to start the writing of their first EP ‘Opening Act’.
Their effort and international backgrounds offers a subtle and unique blend inspired by the old school of prog rock (RUSH/YES) with more modern elements such as: DREAM THEATER, FREAK KITCHEN, FROST*, KARNIVOOL, OPETH and KAMELOT passing by the more mainstream sound of MUSE. Their 1st gig at Sneaky Pete’s in November 2010 (Edinburgh/Scotland) was jam-packed and feedback from the audience and the promoter convinced the band to take their music to the next stage.
2011 was a hard working year for the band. Of their repertoire, four songs were recorded then mixed and mastered by the excellent Marty Bak of SLR Studio (Ontario/Canada) in order to unleash ‘Opening Act’ to the masses. To support the release, a music video for the song ‘Beyond Reason’ will be available in December 2011. Abandoned Stars is now actively planning for gigs/touring to support ‘Opening Act’ and is also looking at a full album release in 2012.
